Car Barn on Capitol Hill
The Car Barn is a converted 1986 streetcar depot building with some loft-like units with high ceilings. The units were originally priced from the low $400′s during their release in 2004. Development included 146 units including one- and two-bedroom condos in three and four-story historic brick buildings, 50 two-bedroom town homes, and conversion of rental apartment building to condominiums. The community, which is completely isolated from the surrounding area by 30 foot gates at both sides, has a pool in the middle, covered parking and patio units as well. Units feature upgraded kitchens with granite, hardwood, spectacular lighting and many have a fireplace as well.
Oddly, the streetcars are returning to the neighborhood in 2009 on H Street NE.
