Housing Finance Agency
The D.C. Housing Finance Agency is selling its 30,000-square-foot headquarters building, which sits on a prime corner along the rapidly developing U Street corridor. It’s only considering bids from developers who will turn the office property into a mix of retail, office space and condos-25 percent of which are designated “affordable.” HFA has received bids from 11 developers and has retained Cushman & Wakefield to manage the sale. The agency does not expect to announce a winning bid until at least the end of October. Preliminary estimates from Cushman & Wakefield show the project would cost between $48.7 million and $64 million and include between 113 and 148 condos.
