I am writing to urge the immediate repeal or amendment of the registration tax on vacant properton unoccupied properties and vacant lots.
The new tax is already discouraging lenders and investors who would otherwise buy and repair vacant properties. It prolongs blight and makes many properties ineligible for financing, depriving owners of the funds they need to make repairs.
Tell the council members:
NO to a de facto Listing Tax
NO to the District grabbing more money from property owners
I am calling for your utmost attention and immediate legislative response to this problem. Any reply would be welcome.
